Vice President Vance Addresses March for Life
At the March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., Vice President J.D. Vance made a strong declaration that the pro-life movement has support from the White House. This marked his second appearance at the event, just days after he and his wife welcomed their fourth child.
“From the president down, all of us in the Trump administration thank you for your prayers, thank you for your patience, and thank you today for all of us marching toward life,” Vance stated during his speech.
He lauded the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade, returning the authority to regulate abortion to the states for the first time in almost half a century. Notably, justices appointed by President Trump played a significant role in this verdict.
“What the president has done, what the Supreme Court has done, has decisively ended judicial tyranny in matters of human life,” Vance asserted. He continued, “He shattered a 50-year throwaway culture that treated human life as expendable the moment it became inconvenient.”
Vance emphasized that the pro-life movement now engages with citizens, not just the Supreme Court, in creating a “culture of life.”
“In this administration, again, we have allies of the president and vice president of the United States in the White House,” he said, prompting enthusiasm from the crowd.
He also highlighted the administration’s achievements in pro-life advocacy, such as the pardoning of 23 activists arrested for protesting outside abortion clinics.
Shortly after President Trump assumed office last year, the State Department announced updates regarding the U.S. membership in the Geneva Consensus Declaration on Promoting Women’s Health and Strengthening Families, an initiative backed by over 35 nations since its establishment in 2020.
President Trump also endorsed the “Enforcement of the Hyde Amendment,” which halts the use of taxpayer funds for abortion services, and revised guidelines pertaining to human fetal tissue in research.
The Trump administration has made strides in protecting the rights of health care providers unwilling to perform abortions.
“We watered down Biden-era rules to ensure that nuns, nurses, pharmacists, and doctors don’t have to identify their faith and values at the door to their workplace,” Vance noted.
He also addressed the expanded child tax credit, which provides significant financial support for families. Vance humorously remarked about the incentives for having another child, referencing the administration’s tax policies.
“I said, ‘Hey, we have the expanded child tax credit and we have a Trump account, we’ve got to take advantage of it!'” he joked.
Furthermore, the Vice President announced plans to broaden the “Mexico City” policy, which restricts U.S. aid to foreign organizations involved in abortion advocacy.
“Our nation cannot afford to be indifferent to whether the next generation will live or die,” Vance remarked.
He shared a haunting story about ancient practices where abandoned infants were often found near brothels, signaling shocking cultural norms surrounding child sacrifice.
“We must remember that in the ancient pagan world, abandoning children was commonplace. From skeletons in brothels to Mayan child sacrifice, it is a hallmark of barbarism that we treat babies as inconveniences to be discarded rather than blessings to be cherished,” Vance expressed. “The Bible teaches that each life is ‘horribly and wonderfully wrought’ by our Creator.”
