Another Arrest in FBI Vehicle Theft Case
On Sunday, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that another individual has been taken into custody related to the theft of government property following an incident where an FBI vehicle was vandalized in Minneapolis earlier this month.
According to Patel, this suspect allegedly used some stolen identification documents from the vehicle to intimidate an FBI agent in Minneapolis, along with his family. “I think we have to be clear: intimidation of law enforcement is unacceptable,” Patel stated in a post on X. He emphasized that neither the destruction of taxpayer-funded property nor the looting of government assets would be tolerated.
More information regarding the arrests is expected to be shared later, Patel noted.
The vandalism incident reportedly occurred on January 14, when “rioters targeted an FBI vehicle and stole various items,” Patel explained.
The FBI had previously shared that several government vehicles were broken into as officers responded to reports of assaults against federal personnel that same night, adding that federal property was stolen from these vehicles.
This latest arrest follows the capture of Raul Gutierrez, a 33-year-old linked to the Latin Kings gang, who was also connected to this case. Attorney General Pam Bondi remarked that these suspected gang members had stolen items, including FBI bulletproof vests and firearms, and they had a history of violent behavior. White House Border Czar Tom Homan further suggested that Gutierrez was involved in the theft of firearms from the FBI.
The alleged theft took place amid protests in Minneapolis on January 14, following an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation. This operation involved an incident where ICE agents reportedly ambushed and shot an undocumented Venezuelan immigrant in the leg after an altercation that included a shovel.
