West Virginia Librarian Charged with Threats Against Trump

A librarian from West Virginia has been charged for allegedly posting a video that sought to recruit an assassin to target President Donald Trump.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported on Sunday that Morgan L. Morrow, who works at the Jackson County Public Library in Ripley, faces one count of making terroristic threats.

According to the sheriff’s office, Morrow is accused of using social media platforms to find individuals willing to locate and assassinate Trump.

Jackson County Sheriff R.H. Mellinger stated, “We will provide more details as this investigation unfolds.” He added that this situation is not a political issue but a criminal case that raises serious concerns.

‘Assassination Culture’ Rising

The announcement followed a TikTok video that purportedly came from Morrow. The video included a disconcerting caption suggesting a sniper with a terminal illness would gain little benefit from targeting a large population.

Comments Encouraging Violence

In addition, comments beneath Morrow’s Instagram video hinted at violence against several prominent figures, including White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and tech executives Larry Ellison and Peter Thiel.

Library’s Response

The Jackson County Public Library addressed the incident on social media shortly before Morrow’s arrest was announced. They emphasized that the recent remarks made by staff do not align with the library’s values. They are committed to professionalism and integrity while serving the community.

The organization further stated, “The opinions expressed are personal and do not reflect our official stance. We are treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves and following our established protocols.” They reassured the public of their commitment to uphold their core values.
