Representative Ilhan Omar claims President Donald Trump is distracting attention.

Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota recently accused President Donald Trump of deflecting attention away from his issues after he targeted her in a post on Truth Social. In part of his message, Trump remarked, “The Department of Justice and Congress are monitoring ‘Congressman’ Ilhan Omar, who came from Somalia with nothing but is now reportedly worth over $44 million. Time will tell.”

In response, left-leaning lawmakers took to X to express their views. Omar, clearly frustrated, replied, “I’m sorry Mr. Trump, but your support is collapsing and you’re panicking. You’re distracting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me. Years of ‘investigations’ have yielded nothing. Get your thugs out of Minnesota.”

In his earlier post, Trump also noted, “Tonight, I’m sending Tom Homan to Minnesota. Though he’s not specifically involved in that area, he knows many people there. He’s tough but fair and will report directly to me.” Trump alluded to a significant investigation into over $20 billion in welfare fraud in Minnesota that supposedly contributes to some of the violent protests occurring in the streets.

Omar has been vocal about wanting to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, stating during a Sunday segment, “ICE is beyond reform. We will abolish it.” Moreover, Trump had previously suggested that Omar should face serious consequences, claiming in a January 18 post that she should be jailed or sent back to Somalia due to her alleged connections to a scheme involving $19 billion in Minnesota.

Omar, who has represented her district since early 2019, was born in Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000. Her recent increase in wealth has spurred various questions about her financial dealings and associations.
