Scott Hanson describes Super Bowl LX as the 'Hope Bowl'

Super Bowl LX Preview: Seahawks vs. Patriots

The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks are set to clash at Levi’s Stadium on February 8th, the game that will decide the two teams left standing in the 2025 NFL season. The stakes? The Vince Lombardi Trophy, which goes to the champion of Super Bowl LX.

As discussions intensify about which team might have the edge in this matchup, “NFL Red Zone” host Scott Hanson reflects on the significance this game holds for the league. Interestingly, he calls this year’s season finale the “Hope Bowl.”

“What I’m saying is Super Bowl LX is the ‘Hope Bowl,'” he stated during a discussion on FOX News Digital, explaining the excitement surrounding Raw’s “Running the Sunday Bucket Belt.” It might sound odd at first, but when you consider the teams vying for the title, it starts to make sense.

Hanson emphasizes that both Seahawks and Patriots fans are elated. He mentions, “I’m not even talking to them right now. I’m addressing 30 other NFL fans whose seasons ended in disappointment, whether it was in the playoffs, the final week of the regular season, or even as early as Thanksgiving.” This year’s matchup features the Seahawks, who, remarkably, were a non-playoff team just a year ago. There’s a glimmer of hope because the Seahawks, despite their struggles last season, now have a second-year head coach stepping up in a significant game.

Mike McDonald, hired two years ago, had previously not held a head coach position despite showcasing talent under Ravens coach John Harbaugh. Seattle managed a respectable 10-7 season last year, missing the playoffs. To boost their chances, they made some aggressive roster moves, highlighted by a blockbuster trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. Geno Smith has had a chance to reconnect with Pete Carroll, and they targeted free agent Sam Darnold.

Hanson refers to Darnold as the best “human story” in the game given his journey, particularly as he led Seattle to a successful 14-win season post a similar rise with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

This year differs, as Darnold bounced back from a previous Wild Card Round exit against the Rams, reaching the “Big Game” after an impressive NFC Conference victory with three touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Patriots are also trying to reinvent themselves after a dismal previous season.

The Patriots, who only managed four wins a year ago, are now playing in the biggest game of American sports. Their newfound head coach Mike Vrabel helped turn the tide, and second-year quarterback Drake Maye became an MVP finalist for his stellar performances this season.

While some argue that the road to the Super Bowl has been easier for the Patriots, they faced difficult matchups, including games against some of the league’s top defenses and adverse weather conditions. Despite an easier schedule compared to other teams, the Patriots returned to prominence for the first time since the Tom Brady era.

Hanson expresses optimism, noting, “Regardless of who you support, Super Bowl LX serves as a reminder that in 365 days, we could be discussing another Super Bowl matchup.”

Fans can anticipate an exciting showdown on February 8th, with the Patriots and Seahawks embodying hope and resilience.

Enhancing the Super Bowl Experience

This season, Lowe’s has been exploring ways to help NFL fans “earn their Sundays,” and the upcoming Super Bowl is no exception. The “Earn Your Sunday Bucket Belt,” which resembles a standard tool belt affixed to a 5-gallon Lowe’s bucket, is designed to carry snacks, drinks, grilling tools, and more for the game.

According to Hanson, match day essentials are crucial. He insists that while all equipment can technically be used, drinks and snacks are the focus during the Super Bowl. “You can strap the top of the bucket to keep drinks chilled,” he mentioned. The belt is available exclusively to MyLowe’s Rewards and MyLowe’s Pro Rewards members.
