Man Shot During Altercation with Federal Agents Had Previous Injuries

A man shot and killed during a confrontation with federal agents last weekend reportedly had broken ribs from an earlier incident involving the same agents.

Sources indicate that Alex Preti was approached by federal agents about a week prior to his death after he tried to intervene during an immigration operation. A CNN report detailed the incident.

According to a witness who spoke with Preti and requested to remain anonymous for safety reasons, the situation escalated when Preti saw federal agents pursuing a family member. He responded by blowing a whistle and yelling, which resulted in agents tackling him. One of them reportedly applied pressure on his back, leading to broken ribs, based on Preti’s comments to officials.

He was eventually released at the scene. The source mentioned that “that day he thought he was going to die.”

Documentation reviewed suggests that Preti was prescribed medication typically used for treating broken ribs.

It’s uncertain if the federal agents were aware of Preti’s identity during the subsequent fatal encounter.

There are claims that his presence may have been recorded as part of ongoing intelligence efforts concerning local protesters. Tom Homan, President Trump’s border chief, recently stated plans to create a database of individuals arrested for obstruction-related offenses, suggesting a public campaign to expose them in their communities.

Homan has been tasked with overseeing operations in Minneapolis and has been in discussions with local officials, including Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey, to promote cooperation with federal authorities.
