West Virginia Man Arrested for Threatening Trump Supporters and ICE Agents
A man from West Virginia is in custody after reportedly posting a video online where he expressed intentions to harm supporters of President Donald Trump and agents from ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
On January 19, the Harrison County Division of the West Virginia State Police received a tip from the local sheriff’s office regarding a supposed threat. According to a report, 20-year-old Kody Smith had shared a video in which he said he would “attack and kill ICE agents” while talking to someone from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Furthermore, it’s alleged that he made direct threats toward a DHS employee who answered his call. Investigators later found that Smith had a history of posting violent content online, targeting not just law enforcement but also others.
The video reportedly included comments about wanting to “kill any Trump supporter, war supporter, or military member” perceived as complicit in “trafficking,” and continued to directly threaten President Trump.
Following this, Smith was arrested and faces charges for making terrorist threats. He is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jail, with bail set at $75,000.
At this time, efforts to locate an attorney for Smith have been unsuccessful, and the local prosecutor’s office has not yet commented on the situation.
This incident follows another case where a librarian in West Virginia was charged with making terroristic threats after allegedly recruiting an assassin for President Trump via social media.
Morgan L. Morrow of Ripley, West Virginia, was arrested on Sunday on similar accusations of attempting to incite violence against Trump through social media posts. Following public outcry, the local library condemned Morrow’s comments, asserting they do not align with the institution’s values and are being addressed internally.
