Giants seek to interview Davis Webb for the offensive coordinator position

Davis Webb in the Running for Giants Offensive Coordinator Role

Davis Webb might be on his way back to New York City. The Giants have expressed interest in interviewing him for their open offensive coordinator position, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This week, Webb interviewed for head coaching roles with both the Raiders and the Bills, and he’s also being considered for offensive coordinator jobs with the Eagles and Ravens.

The former NFL quarterback has had two stints with the Giants: first in 2017, when he was waived in September 2018, and again in the 2022 season, where he started his first game against the Eagles in Week 18 after spending time on the practice squad.

After wrapping up his playing career, Webb shifted to coaching, joining Sean Payton’s staff in Denver as the quarterbacks coach.

There’s been buzz around him for a while now as a future coaching star. Interestingly, the Bills had shown interest in bringing him on as a quarterbacks coach before he returned to the Giants.

In a conversation with amNewYork, he shared that he opted to play one more season in August 2022 to avoid any regrets. “You can coach until you’re older,” he mentioned, citing examples like Pete Carroll, suggesting that coaching can be a long-term career.

Since 2023, Webb has also taken on the role of passing game coordinator with the Broncos, receiving positive feedback for his efforts. While there, he worked closely with Russell Wilson and contributed to the development of Bo Nix.

In fact, Russell Wilson had high praise for him, stating in October, “I think he’s going to be a great coach for a long time. I really believe he’ll be an offensive coordinator, and, God willing, a head coach one day. He has that kind of potential.”
