Stephen Colbert Talks Rumors on Seth Meyers’ Show

Stephen Colbert, the late-night host, made an appearance on Seth Meyers’ show recently, where he tackled various rumors about his future, including speculation about a potential presidential run.

Meyers brought up the candidacy rumor after mentioning another buzz—Colbert’s alleged deal with Netflix worth $13.5 million. Colbert responded humorously, suggesting that even that amount wouldn’t be enough. “There’s not enough money,” he said.

“It’s something I’ll have to discuss with my faith leaders and my family,” Colbert continued. “If there’s a way we can serve the American people that’s bigger than late-night TV, we’ll consider it.”

He acknowledged having heard the rumor, simply saying, “Okay.”

Meyers also mentioned another rumor, saying that Colbert might be joining a new ensemble cast for a show. This group, which includes notable names like Rachel Maddow, Tom Hanks, and Simon Cowell, was referred to by Meyers as “the new A-Team.”

Earlier in July, CBS had announced that Colbert’s current show would conclude in May 2026.

Before wrapping up their conversation, Colbert chose not to confirm or deny any of the rumors swirling around him.

Colbert revealed that the last episode of his show is set for May 21, 2026. Meyers expressed his sadness at this news, thanking Colbert for the influence he’s had throughout their careers.

“I’m really sorry to see your show end,” Meyers said. “I feel lucky to have shared this time with you. I still remember seeing you on stage at Second City in Chicago and being blown away. You’ve been a huge inspiration for me, and I’m incredibly grateful to have known you.”
