Random Stabbing Incident in Redmond Leaves Woman Critically Injured
A woman has suffered severe injuries after what police are classifying as a random stabbing in a well-off Seattle suburb. The incident took place Saturday morning along Bear Creek Trail, a popular spot for recreation near Redmond Town Center. Authorities have issued a warning, stating the suspect is armed and poses a danger to the public.
Responding to an emergency call around 10:45 a.m., Redmond Police Chief Darrell Rowe reported that officers found a 50-year-old woman nearby, lying in the street with multiple stab wounds. Medical assistance was given on-site before she was rushed to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
According to Rowe, the victim was somewhat responsive, managing to communicate that she did not know her attacker. Investigators suspect that the stabbing was a random act of violence.
A witness who saw someone fleeing the scene provided a description to the police. The suspect is thought to be a man of Hispanic, Caucasian, or Asian descent, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build. He was reportedly last seen wearing a green hoodie or jacket, blue jeans, and a black beanie.
The police are advising the public not to approach the suspect and to contact 911 if they have any information regarding the case. This incident has understandably shaken the local community, which is known for its safety and the frequently used nature of the trail.
Residents expressed their concerns about the random nature of the attack, prompting some to reconsider their outdoor activities. “It’s random, and that makes it even scarier,” said local resident Rajalakshmi Pramod. Others are rethinking their routes and advising friends and family to steer clear of the trail until the suspect is caught. Walking and jogging in the area have become a source of anxiety rather than enjoyment.
