Nicki Minaj Appears at Trump Event, Critiques Gavin Newsom
Nicki Minaj, the renowned rap artist, made an appearance in Washington, D.C., where she was notably alongside President Donald Trump. While there, she offered praise for the administration and delivered sharp critiques of California’s Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom.
At the Trump Account Summit on Wednesday, Minaj announced her commitment of hundreds of thousands of dollars to a government-led child savings initiative. These accounts are a key element of President Trump’s proposed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which aims to establish investment funds for every child born from 2025 to 2028, supported by government and private donors.
She characterized Newsom rather unflatteringly, saying, “Newscam only wants to be seen. He doesn’t want to do anything credible.”
In her comments, Minaj expressed strong support for Trump, claiming, “I’m probably the president’s biggest fan. And that doesn’t change… the negativity motivates me to back him even more.” She added, “There’s powerful energy surrounding him, and I truly believe he is under God’s protection.”
Minaj distinguished Trump from Newsom, especially highlighting the former’s credibility, which she perceives as rare among global leaders. “This is a different person,” she remarked. “He’s a businessman and a real human being, genuinely interested in contributing meaningfully.”
On the contrary, regarding Newsom, she stated, “He doesn’t want change… Newscam just seeks attention. He’s not dedicated to doing anything credible with his time or life.”
Moreover, Minaj referred to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as her “new hero” for his aggressive policies, particularly mentioning his encounter with Newsom during a recent meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
“The confidence with which he handled himself was impressive,” she laughed.
