Belichick’s Hall of Fame Case Bolstered by Brady

Bill Belichick has done a lot to pave the way for Tom Brady’s success as an NFL quarterback. In return, Brady has taken steps to support Belichick’s candidacy for the Hall of Fame.

Brady crafted a heartfelt memo advocating for Belichick’s induction. It’s surprising he had to do this, given Belichick’s impressive record of eight Super Bowl titles, both as a head coach and an assistant. Nonetheless, Brady passed the memo along to Hall of Fame voter Armando Salguero for others to consider.

While this memo from arguably the best quarterback ever was intended to reinforce a pre-existing commitment, that wasn’t quite how things turned out.

Salguero hasn’t yet made Brady’s memo public.

Brady expressed a strong belief in Belichick’s qualifications, stating, “No coach in the history of the game has done more to earn a spot in the Hall of Fame than Bill Belichick. He has been a tremendous influence on my coaching. His remarkable leadership, vision, and discipline made our team excel for almost two decades.” He emphasized that the high level of competition week in and week out was a direct result of Belichick’s challenges to the team.

Brady continued, “For 20 years, I witnessed the greatest coach ever in action. His daily standards and adaptability were unmatched. He held everyone to a championship-level, which is why we succeeded. He deserves to be in Canton.”

Brady also reflected on their accomplishments together, saying, “I’m grateful for what we built and proud of the team. No one is more deserving of this honor than Coach Belichick.”

There are no valid football-related reasons to keep Belichick out of the Hall of Fame. If he remains excluded, it likely stems from a place of personal bias.

But could this same bias affect Brady during his first year of eligibility? Some might speculate if the voters will “punish” him for past controversies, similar to how they allegedly feel about Belichick’s past issues.

Only time will reveal the outcome.
