FBI Executes Search Warrant at Fulton County Election Site

On Wednesday, the FBI carried out a search warrant at an election site in Fulton County, Georgia. The warrant allowed agents to seize election records, voter rolls, and various other data concerning the 2020 election, as noted in a document reviewed.

This operation at the Fulton County Elections Hub and Operations Center in Union City may signify the FBI’s ongoing investigation into allegations of voter fraud linked to the 2020 election. Fulton County, noted as the most populated county in Georgia and home to the state capital, Atlanta, has been a focal point for such fraud claims, although those allegations were not upheld in court.

Reports indicated that agents were observed entering the Elections Hub Operations Center, which is slated to begin operations in 2023 to enhance the electoral process.

According to the warrant, FBI agents were permitted to collect physical ballots, tabulation tapes, electronic ballot images, and voter rolls gathered from the county’s primary election facility during the 2020 election.

The FBI commented that agents were engaged in “court-authorized law enforcement operations” at the site, adding that they could not provide additional details as the investigation is ongoing.

This news follows years of concern over alleged voter fraud in Fulton County, initially raised by former President Trump and others after narrowly losing the state to President Biden in 2020. Despite machine counts and two recounts verifying the election outcomes, Trump has persisted with claims of irregularities, creating a friction with Georgia officials.

Most recently, Trump hinted at impending prosecutions related to these allegations during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, while remaining vague on specifics.

The Justice Department had previously initiated a lawsuit against Fulton County in December, seeking access to the ballots related to the 2020 case, though this recent FBI search seems to be an independent matter. Fulton County is contesting the lawsuit, asserting the Justice Department has not sufficiently justified its access request.
