Testimony in High-Profile Rape Case
A prominent real estate agent, Tal Alexander, faced serious accusations this week when a Nevada nurse claimed he raped her during a traumatic incident in his $13 million mansion located in the Hamptons.
The nurse, referred to by the pseudonym Maya Miller, visibly broke down while testifying in Manhattan federal court. Alongside her, Tal, aged 39, and his brothers Oren and Aron, both 38, stand accused of using their considerable wealth for exploiting women through a sex-trafficking scheme that allegedly spanned over a decade.
“He looked at me while I was crying and became sexually aroused,” Miller recounted, her voice quivering as she faced the jury.
“What he did to me was just control,” she continued, dabbing her eyes with a tissue.
Miller recounted that the alleged assault occurred after a weekend gathering in August 2014 when Tal invited her to a lavish waterfront property in Sag Harbor, where he was accompanied by friends.
At the time, Miller was 23 and said Tal had contacted a celebrity’s agent, who had successfully sold a $15 million Miami condo to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, sharing his phone number in the process.
“He seemed like an outgoing guy,” she described Tal during her testimony.
The weekend kicked off with excitement; she and a friend took a seaplane from Manhattan to the Hamptons, arriving at a party house equipped with a pool and basketball court.
“It was surreal. I had to pinch myself,” Miller shared while seated a short distance from Tal, dressed in a black suit jacket over a white shirt.
However, the atmosphere shifted drastically on Saturday night. Tal reportedly entered the room where she and her friend were, wearing only swim trunks, and when Miller declined his proposition, he responded with, “Aren’t you coming to the party? I thought you invited all the fun girls.”
She later confessed that when asked if she had been drinking, she lied, even though she had discreetly poured some cocktails down the sink.
Concerned for her safety, Miller stayed up through the night, positioning her and her friend’s luggage against the door to defend against Tal and one of his tall companions lurking outside.
“I had a really bad feeling and was worried they were going to come back,” she told jurors.
Eventually, as Miller was about to leave, Tal allegedly barged into her room, “tackled” her, and made a disturbing remark regarding her gratitude for his hospitality.
In a frantic response, she ran to the bathroom and jumped into the shower, where she claimed Tal followed her, activating the water and, horrifyingly, raped her while she cried.
“I remember trying to scream, but it felt like there was a frog in my throat,” she said. “No matter how loud I screamed, it only sounded like a whisper.”
Tal then allegedly told her, “That’s what you wanted. It’s okay, I care about you,” as she fought to understand what was happening.
During cross-examination, the defense questioned why she hadn’t reported the assault to her friends immediately. Ironically, after the alleged incident, her friend even sent Tal a thank-you gift for the weekend.
The trial revealed that the day after the reported assault, Miller sent Tal a text featuring a smiley emoji, saying, “It was absolutely amazing,” while inquiring about his plans in New York City.
Miller admitted to being frightened at the prospect of managing properties for wealthy clients and felt pressured to meet their expectations.
Interestingly, under questioning by Tal’s lawyer, Miller implied that he likely did not anticipate any intimate expectations as part of his invitation to her.
However, Tal seemed to hold a contrary view. An email presented to the jury revealed his disturbing thoughts just days before the alleged assault, where he remarked on “cheap prostitutes” heading to the Hamptons, forwarding flight information about Miller.
Now 34, Miller recounted that she came forward to the FBI after the Alexanders’ arrest in December 2024, feeling compelled to share her story after watching a news conference about the case.
“I’m 34 now and I know who I am,” she declared in court. “I want someone to take responsibility for what they did to me.”
Following their success at brokerage Douglas Elliman, Tal and Oren co-founded a luxury real estate company named Official in 2022, which manages upscale properties in affluent locations like the Hamptons and Miami.
The trial is projected to extend over the next three weeks, with each brother facing 15 years to life in prison if found guilty of the sexual assault charges, which include trafficking through coercion and violence.
