Hunter Biden Responds to Paternity Case Involving Daughter
Hunter Biden has claimed that his recent “ghosting” of his 7-year-old daughter, Marine Joan Roberts, with former stripper Lunden Roberts, was not tied to any obligation, stating in new legal documents that he isn’t legally required to maintain a relationship with her.
This statement comes after Lunden Roberts reopened her paternity case in Arkansas in 2019, leading to her lawyers asserting on Tuesday that the 55-year-old did not fulfill his obligations under a 2023 agreement. They are seeking for him to be held in contempt of court, alongside demands for increased child support.
In a complaint filed on January 13, Roberts accused Biden of causing her daughter “emotional trauma,” alleging he failed to provide promised artwork, the value of which reportedly decreased after he withdrew from communication.
In response, Biden’s attorneys denied the motion, arguing that the child’s emotional state or connection with Biden were irrelevant because the court did not mandate personal interaction.
“Specifically, the child’s mental state and relationship with the defendant are unrelated to contempt or modifications regarding child support,” said Biden’s attorney, Davis Langdon.
Hunter Biden, who is the son of U.S. President Joe Biden, has five children in total—three with ex-wife Kathleen Buhl and one with his current spouse, Melissa Cohen.
Lunden Roberts pointed out that despite a short-lived connection between Biden and their daughter, he suddenly ceased all communication without any notice, leading to significant emotional distress for Marine. For instance, during a recent family wedding, she felt upset when she realized her father would not walk her down the aisle or dance with her at the reception.
Biden, known for his self-taught painting, indicated that there was no legal timeline regarding when he needed to deliver the artworks. “Even if no paintings have ever been provided to the child, as long as the 30 paintings are designated to the child, it doesn’t breach the order since compliance has been met,” Langdon explained. They also mentioned that the child would have the option to select which paintings she wants within an unspecified timeframe.
Biden’s lawyers contended that there was no need for the additional child support requested by Roberts, despite noting significant lifestyle improvements for Roberts. They argued he hadn’t shown that his financial situation had actually changed.
Reportedly, Roberts had agreed to lower his monthly child support payments from $20,000 to $5,000 during the settlement period in 2023, which also included provisions for Biden to contribute to the cost of a painting.
Lastly, Biden’s legal team stated that Roberts’ claims over the years have been aimed primarily at humiliating Biden and making his private life a public spectacle.
