Gabbard Leads Investigation into 2020 Election Allegations
WASHINGTON – Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, has taken a prominent role in investigating claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election. This effort has recently led to an FBI raid on a voting site in Georgia, as reported by officials within the administration.
Gabbard mentioned that her team discovered vulnerabilities in electronic voting systems as far back as April 2025. However, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has been responsible for safeguarding elections against foreign interference for a while now.
According to White House Press Secretary Davis Ingle, “Secretary Gabbard plays a critical role in protecting election security and integrity from interference, including operations targeting voting systems, databases, and election infrastructure.” She is working under President Trump’s guidance to ensure election security, collaborating with various partners.
An ODNI spokesperson highlighted that Gabbard appreciates the significance of election security to national health and security, stating, “As DNI, she plays a critical role in identifying vulnerabilities in our nation’s critical infrastructure and protecting them from exploitation.”
It has been reported that Gabbard has engaged in regular meetings with Trump, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, as well as Justice Department officials, including attorneys Cleta Mitchell and Kurt Olsen, who is now a special government employee.
One of Gabbard’s notable investigations from last year concluded in a press conference where it was claimed that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election on behalf of Trump, while also accusing the Obama administration of “treasonous conspiracy.”
During Obama’s presidency, multiple Cabinet members, such as then-CIA Director John Brennan and DNI James Clapper, faced prosecution referrals to the Justice Department and were subpoenaed for testimonies by federal prosecutors.
Officials from the current administration asserted that the ODNI’s investigative actions align with the president’s executive orders aimed at preserving election integrity.
Gabbard’s responsibilities extend to coordinating with the National Counterintelligence and Security Center to tackle “risks posed by foreign forces to election infrastructure, including voting systems and voter registration databases.”
The ODNI spokesperson remarked, “We know through intelligence services and public reporting that electronic voting systems are vulnerable to abuse.”
Gabbard has been directed by Trump to enhance election security, and she plans to continue her efforts alongside interagency partners to maintain the integrity of elections.
Critics, however, have noted that over 60 lawsuits regarding 2020 election fraud have been dismissed, even by judges appointed by Trump himself.
Allegations of election fraud culminated in Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally outside the White House, leading to the storming of the U.S. Capitol, which postponed the certification of the election results for several hours.
In that election, Joe Biden emerged victorious in Georgia, winning by approximately 12,000 votes, among seven key battleground states. The ballots confirming Biden’s 16-vote Electoral College victory underwent a manual recount to validate the initial results.
On January 28, Gabbard was seen in Fulton County, Georgia, wearing a baseball cap and making a call while FBI agents executed a search warrant at an election center that had previously been targeted by Trump’s allies for allegedly miscounting ballots.
The warrant sought access to voter rolls, digital data, tabulation tapes, and ballots, as they could serve as possible “evidence of criminal activity.”
Trump hinted at significant developments during a recent event, stating, “Something very interesting is going to happen. They’ve been trying to get there for a long time.”
Fulton County is also the location where Trump and 18 other individuals were indicted by District Attorney Fani Willis for attempting to overturn the election results, although those charges were eventually dropped.
Last December, Trump’s Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Fulton County, demanding access to “all used and invalid ballots, all ballot stubs, signature envelopes, and corresponding envelope digital files” from the 2020 election.
Uncertainty looms over which other battleground states that supported Biden might come under scrutiny. Trump administration officials indicate that the collaboration among ODNI, the FBI, and the Justice Department is part of an initiative to secure U.S. elections.
“We are working together as an administration on issues related to election integrity,” remarked Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, adding that Gabbard’s presence at the raid “should not surprise anyone.”
“She’s a very important part of this administration,” he stated. “So, of course, her presence should not be questioned. That’s an essential aspect of her job.”
At this point, it’s uncertain whether any report regarding election interference will be prepared before the midterm elections.
The FBI’s raid in Georgia was authorized through a warrant that permits agents to inspect data from all voting machines in Fulton County. The warrant reportedly references possible destruction of election records and fraudulent votes.
Trump has also indicated plans to eliminate mail-in voting and voting machines prior to the 2026 election through an executive order.
Last July, Gabbard remarked, “The reason President Trump nominated me to be director of national intelligence was to get to the bottom of these issues surrounding election integrity.” She added, “This is clearly the most important thing for President Trump, but it’s also crucial for the American people to have trust in the integrity of our democratic system.”
