A woman, identifying herself as an “unknown” victim of Jeffrey Epstein, reached out to the Department of Justice in November 2021 with alarming claims about someone she described as “100 times worse” than Ghislaine Maxwell. Recent emails that have emerged shed light on this communication.
The individual in question is Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent and long-time associate of Epstein, who has stated, “We’ve been together for 40 years.” Notably, Brunel was arrested in France on accusations of raping girls just over four months before the woman contacted authorities.
The woman’s allegations paint a startling picture: “He is 100 times worse than Maxwell. Maxwell is certainly bad, but he surpasses her in terms of wrongdoing. If you would like more stories or details about them or Maxwell, I’m willing to share,” she noted, adding that she and countless others had been victims as well.
There’s no clarity on whether the Justice Department followed up with her, and her name has been redacted in the released documents.
Tragically, Brunel was found dead in his prison cell in February 2022. Reports indicated he had hanged himself.
This exchange was part of a broader release of documents under the Transparency Act. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche commented on Friday that the released files won’t reveal new evidence regarding the powerful individuals who preyed on Epstein’s victims. He expressed skepticism about the public ever fully understanding the extent of the abuse that occurred.
“We don’t know if there are men who abused these women,” Blanche remarked at a press conference, hinting at the complexity surrounding these cases. His statement reflected a sense of frustration with the ongoing search for accountability.
Updates on the Jeffrey Epstein Documents from the Department of Justice
The documents have also revealed fresh details about Epstein’s connections with various notable figures, including former Trump campaign advisor Steve Bannon and Microsoft founder Bill Gates, both of whom allegedly provided him with gifts like an Apple Watch and may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease.
There have been previous reports illuminating Epstein’s ties to former President Bill Clinton, author Michael Wolff, and President Trump, with some sources suggesting that Epstein leveraged these relationships for blackmail, positioning himself favorably among global elites.
Blanche stated he was unaware of any supporting evidence for the claims made by Maxwell, who has faced serious legal repercussions. A memo from the Justice Department characterized Epstein as abusive, although only he and Maxwell have faced criminal charges amid numerous allegations of wrongdoing.
“I don’t think the public’s desire for information will be satisfied just by reviewing these documents,” Blanche concluded, emphasizing the ongoing frustration surrounding the investigation.
