Ben Stiller Criticizes Immigration Officials
Ben Stiller recently shared a letter on social media, expressing his concerns about federal immigration authorities, describing them as an “armed militia” responsible for “murdering American citizens.”
In his letter, he mentioned feeling “worried about the future of our democracy,” which echoes sentiments shared by many people today.
“I love this country, but like many of us, I worry about the future of our democracy,” he noted in his post.
Stiller went on to talk about the protests in Minnesota, along with two incidents where violent protesters were reportedly killed by ICE agents, misrepresenting the situation.
“We are now witnessing American citizens being killed in broad daylight by masked ICE agents. These are neighbors whose lives ended violently by armed militias invading our communities,” he stated. “They had no due process in life and were denied dignity in death, as the government shifted blame and crafted a false narrative.”
However, the activists who died were not merely innocents; both were involved in radical activities, including one who tried to run over an ICE officer and another who brandished a loaded gun at a protest.
Stiller further addressed the issue of government accountability, invoking the founders’ idea of “checks and balances.” He expressed his concern over innocent people experiencing harassment and separation from families, leading to tragic outcomes.
“Peaceful protest is a form of speech protected by the Constitution and essential to our democratic framework,” he emphasized. Yet, he seemed to categorize weeks of violent protests by anti-ICE groups as “peaceful.” Stiller also lamented the arrest of journalists, quoting Martin Luther King Jr. on the importance of speaking out.
“Our elected leaders, from the president to Congress, must uphold our nation’s ideals, acting with integrity, instead of misleading the public,” he argued.
He urged for the removal of ICE from communities and stressed the need for justice, notably overlooking the fact that over 77 million voters supported Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
“I believe we can reverse this trend of division and hatred,” he said. “It may sound naive, but a renewed sense of empathy and love is what will help us move forward.”
Interestingly, Stiller, who in 2021 supported the banning of conservative voices from social media, has also faced criticism for likening dissenting opinions to those of Nazis.
Moreover, during the recent election cycle, he was an active supporter of Kamala Harris, participating in various fundraisers alongside her husband, Doug Emhoff, in addition to appearing in pro-abortion campaigns.
