Aerial images reveal Iranian actions at nuclear facilities attacked by the US and Israel

Recent Developments at Iranian Nuclear Facilities

New satellite images indicate that roofs have been installed over structures at Iranian nuclear facilities, specifically in Isfahan and Natanz. These buildings were previously damaged by attacks from the U.S. and Israel.

Andrea Stricker, an expert on Iran at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, mentioned to the Associated Press that this roof installation might be part of Iran’s strategy to evaluate the condition of critical assets, including a limited supply of highly enriched uranium, following the strikes. She suggested that Iran aims to recover any usable materials without drawing attention from the U.S. and Israel.

These new coverings are designed to obscure activities from satellite surveillance, which is currently the only way the International Atomic Energy Agency can monitor the sites, as Iran has restricted access.

Located about 215 miles south of Tehran, Natanz is a key site for Iran’s uranium enrichment, blending above-ground and subterranean facilities. Historically, this location has been known for converting uranium gas into forms that are further refined in centrifuges.

In June 2025, Israel confirmed their military intervention at the Isfahan complex, describing it as successful in damaging uranium production capabilities and related infrastructures. The U.S. also attacked, employing bunker-busting bombs and cruise missiles, claiming substantial degradation of Iran’s nuclear program according to their National Security Strategy released in November.

Since the attacks, Iran has not permitted IAEA inspectors to access the facilities. The recent satellite imagery emerges amid President Trump’s warnings about a significant military presence in the Middle East aimed at pressuring Iran toward a nuclear agreement. Meanwhile, military officials in Iran have stated their readiness to retaliate strongly against any U.S. aggression. The Trump administration has also tightened sanctions against Iranian figures following violent crackdowns on dissent.
