Giants plan to elevate Chad Hall to the position of wide receivers coach

Giants Coaching Staff Updates

The coaching team for the Giants, under John Harbaugh, is beginning to form. Assistant quarterbacks coach Chad Hall is set to be elevated to wide receivers coach, as reported by CBS Sports this morning.

At 39, Hall brings experience, having played wide receiver in the NFL from 2010 to 2014. He joined the Giants last season, after previous roles with the Bills and Jaguars, and has been coaching in the NFL since 2017.

As Harbaugh continues to assemble his coaching staff, there’s an ongoing question about who will fill the offensive coordinator position.

Initially, it looked like Todd Monken, the former Ravens OC, was in the lead for the job after they worked together for three seasons. However, Monken’s recent move to the Browns has thrown a wrench into those plans, leaving the Giants looking for a new offensive leader.

Reports suggest that the Giants are scheduled to meet with Chargers quarterbacks coach Shane Day, who has worked under Jim Harbaugh for the last two seasons.

In addition, former Giants QBs Davis Webb and Alex Tunney are in line for interviews, along with Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, marking a broad search for the role.

Regardless of who Harbaugh ultimately selects, there’s a sense that the Giants could be well-positioned offensively. David Syvertsen, a chief evaluator for Ourlads Scouting Services, expressed his confidence in Harbaugh’s decision-making process this week.

“He’s had a lot of success under different coordinators. It’s not as if a coordinator leaves and everything crumbles,” Syvertsen mentioned. “I think we should trust him to make the right choice. Some were disappointed about Monken, but I’m sure he’ll find the right fit and keep moving forward successfully.”
