Ali Larter Opens Up About Her Career and Challenges with Bikini Scenes

Ali Larter, with over 20 years in the entertainment industry, has certainly carved out a diverse career. Recently, she shared her thoughts in an interview about filming bikini scenes for her role in the show “Landman.” She remarked, “I don’t think there’s an actress alive who’s like, ‘Wow! I got a bikini scene!'”

“That’s the hardest thing for me,” she admitted. “I don’t really enjoy them. They’re just part of the storyline I tell. I’m an actress, so I participate in that. But honestly, they are definitely my least favorite thing.” It’s interesting to hear her express such a relatable sentiment—many can probably agree that stepping out in a swimsuit can be daunting.

Reflecting on her journey, Larter transitioned from modeling, which she began at 13, to acting after a few minor roles in shows like “Suddenly Susan” and “Dawson’s Creek.” She hit the big time with her role as Darcy in the 1999 film “Varsity Blues,” where she had to navigate not just acting but also some iconic scenes. She recalls, “‘Varsity Blues’ was where it all started… it was a feel-good movie, and I think it was a simpler time.” Larter appreciated how her character showed vulnerability, something audiences connected with.

Following “Varsity Blues,” Larter made a mark in horror with her role as Clear Rivers in the “Final Destination” series, kicking off in 2000. The premise is quite eerie—a group of survivors facing bizarre deaths after cheating fate. Larter mentioned that the stunts were intense, and she enjoyed the athletic challenge.

She also ventured into comedies, playing Brooke Windham in “Legally Blonde” alongside Reese Witherspoon. Larter expressed that getting the role was exciting, especially knowing how interesting the script was. The film, which follws Elle Woods’s journey at Harvard Law, became an instant classic and even has future projects in the pipeline.

Returning to her series roles, Larter’s work in “Heroes” showcased her range, portraying characters with complex backgrounds. She characterized her role as one that connected with audiences on a deeper level, emphasizing resilience and empowerment.

In “Landman,” Larter portrays Angela Norris, a strong and confident character living in a world dominated by the oil industry. Despite her character’s assertiveness, Larter revealed the personal battles she faces when portraying such confident roles, particularly with the demands of her wardrobe choices.

She shared, “At the end of the day, any time you have to walk in front of someone in a swimsuit, it’s really difficult. I have to spend all this time battling my own insecurities.” However, she also recognizes the strength and growth that come from playing such roles, stating that it’s fulfilling to portray a character who truly owns her body.

Larter’s reflections on her career illustrate a blend of achievements and struggles, revealing the human side of navigating fame in the entertainment world.
