Don Lemon Receives Standing Ovation After Controversial Arrest
Former CNN anchor Don Lemon made an unexpected return to the spotlight at a pre-Grammy Awards gala, just hours after being arrested by federal agents. He was met with applause as he walked into the Beverly Hills Hilton’s International Ballroom, dressed in all black.
Lemon, who faces allegations of involvement in anti-ICE raids at churches, was cheered on by a star-studded audience at Clive Davis’ annual party. Davis, the renowned music producer, called out Lemon’s name, prompting the audience to give him a standing ovation. Notable attendees included Heidi Klum and a performance featuring Stevie Wonder and Jelly Roll, along with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
It had been less than two days since federal authorities detained Lemon in a hotel elevator near the event. Just before the gala, he had attended another Grammy celebration in Century City. Reports say agents swarmed him as soon as he entered the hotel, leading to his arrest within the elevator.
Witnesses noted that Lemon was swiftly handcuffed and escorted out by agents—one in an FBI jacket and another in a police HSI jacket. This scene unfolded in the same hotel where he had been invited multiple times for Davis’ gatherings.
Clive Davis, who celebrated his 93rd birthday recently, was seen at the party wearing a bright yellow sweater. When asked about Lemon’s situation, his representative declined to comment but remarked that the ballroom is “a great stage.”
This venue holds a bittersweet memory, as it has hosted Davis’ parties for decades. In 2012, the tragic death of singer Whitney Houston occurred just hours before one of these events, which was ruled an accidental drowning with cocaine present in her system.
