Authorities are focusing on three “areas of interest” as they investigate the disappearance of a 20-year-old woman who vanished nearly nine years ago from Calabasas, a posh area in Southern California known for its celebrity residents.
Elaine Park went missing on January 28, 2017. The last confirmed sighting was when she left the home of Shakim Compere, a film executive closely associated with Queen Latifah.
Reports indicate that Park was visiting her boyfriend Divine Compere, Shakim’s son, who was the last person to see her.
Surveillance footage showed her leaving the $7 million property, now owned by Kevin Hart, around 6 a.m. that morning, and it seems unlikely she will be found alive.
Investigators are now concentrating on three key aspects. Firstly, it was reported that Park had experienced a panic attack early that morning just before she went missing. Her boyfriend claimed the attack occurred after they returned from a movie.
The second lead involves Park’s gray Honda, which was discovered five days later on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, about 10 miles from Calabasas. The car was found unlocked with a dead battery and the keys still in the ignition; it’s noted that Park seldom visited Malibu.
A major search by police using helicopters yielded no results. Local officials noted it was unusual for a car to remain unattended for several days without being ticketed or towed, leading to concerns that it might have been moved after the fact, according to Jaden Brandt, a private investigator engaged by Park’s mother.
Interestingly, the car also contained Park’s iPhone, but Glendale police have struggled to unlock it. Brandt has attempted to access the data as well.
He mentioned, “The trouble is that everything was happening just before she disappeared. Unfortunately, data from that night to the following morning was lost since it didn’t sync to iCloud.”
While Glendale police continue their investigation, they have not provided additional information on the case. Brandt expressed his frustration, wishing for clarity: “I wish I could have found out what happened to her, but I’m frustrated.”
