Trump Critiques Grammy Awards, Threatens Legal Action Against Trevor Noah
On Monday, former President Donald Trump expressed his disdain for the Grammy Awards, calling them “virtually unwatchable.” He also hinted at pursuing legal action against host Trevor Noah, accusing him of making “defamatory” comments regarding Jeffrey Epstein.
Noah, who hosted the event on Sunday night, made politically charged statements, poking fun at the Trump administration’s immigration policies. At one point, he quipped that Trump sought to acquire Greenland because Epstein’s private island was off-limits and needed a new place to “hang out with Bill Clinton.”
Trump took to social media to share his thoughts: “The Grammys suck and are virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky they don’t have more trash littering the airwaves. Whoever the host, Trevor Noah is, he’s almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the low-rating Academy Awards. Noah says about me and Bill Clinton on Epstein’s island. That’s wrong!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I’ve never been to Epstein Island or anywhere near it. Until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, even the fake news media has never accused me of being there.”
Trump’s social media post included a reference to seeking legal consequences: “Noah, you’re a total loser. You better get your facts straight, and get it straight ASAP. It looks like they’re going to send a lawyer to sue this pathetic, talentless MC and ask for a lot of money. Just ask Little George Slopadopoulos and others what happened.” He added, “Also ask CBS! Noah, get ready, I’m going to have some fun with you! President DJT.”
A representative for Noah has yet to comment on Trump’s remarks.
Recently, the Justice Department revealed over three million records related to Epstein, which included personal emails. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche noted that despite efforts to disparage Trump, Epstein’s communications did not indicate any criminal wrongdoing or inappropriate contact between him and the victims.
Trump’s threat of legal action against Noah is just one of many ongoing lawsuits he is pursuing, including cases against the BBC and the IRS. In December 2024, a settlement was reached between Trump and ABC News after an anchor incorrectly claimed he was found “responsible for rape” in a civil suit.
Meanwhile, the Grammy Awards will be relocating to the Disney Network and streaming services in 2027, ending a long-standing partnership with CBS.
