Criticism of Grammy Awards and Don Lemon

The wife of NFL running back Raheem Mostert has publicly criticized the Grammy Awards and Hollywood for their admiration of Don Lemon, who was recently arrested in connection with an incident involving a church protest in Minnesota.

Devon Mostert took to her Instagram Story to express her disappointment, sharing a video of Alex Warren’s performance at the event. She remarked that it was unfortunate he had to perform for an audience that applauded Lemon following his controversial actions.

She pointed out the apparent hypocrisy within the Grammy community, stating, “The hypocrisy of the Grammys and Hollywood is insane.” Lemon faces charges related to his involvement in disrupting a church service during an anti-ICE protest in Minnesota. Interestingly, he was in Los Angeles covering the Grammy Awards at the time of his arrest.

Despite his legal troubles, Lemon received accolades at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys party, where attendees gave him a standing ovation. On the following day, he appeared on the red carpet alongside his partner Tim Malone and singer Brandi Carlile.

Lemon, who was released without bail after his arrest, defended himself by asserting that he was carrying out his duties as a journalist. Prosecutors, however, have claimed that he collaborated with activists in a disruptive protest at Cities Church.

In a recent statement, he quoted a biblical verse about truth and freedom, reflecting on the consequences of his visibility as a journalist. Lemon expressed concerns that the government views his journalistic efforts as punishable, rather than protected speech.

He drew a parallel between his situation and the historical attempts to silence journalists and civil rights advocates, suggesting that true freedom of the press flourishes when those in power are put to the test.

Lemon argued that the notion of a free press is celebrated in America, but only until it disturbs the status quo or reveals uncomfortable truths that the powerful wish to conceal. He emphasized that the First Amendment is meant to foster accountability, not convenience.
