Accused surgeon Michael McKee reportedly shot nearly 24 times at ex-wife and her husband.

A psychiatrist surgeon, accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife and her new spouse, is believed to have fired nearly 20 shots into the couple after breaking into their Ohio home, according to an autopsy report.

Monique and Spencer Tepe were found with a total of 16 gunshot wounds on December 30 when Michael McKee, an Illinois vascular surgeon, entered their Columbus residence and killed them in their sleep, as reported by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.

Monique, who was married to McKee for two years before filing for divorce in 2017, sustained nine gunshot wounds. This included a shot to her right cheek, along with multiple wounds to her torso and three to her chest.

The coroner determined that Spencer, 37, died from gunshot wounds to his head, torso, and extremities, which inflicted visceral and skeletal injuries.

According to court records obtained by the Columbus Dispatch, McKee had previously threatened his ex-wife, stating he could kill her “at any time.” This behavior was part of a pattern of abuse during and post-marriage.

Witnesses also described incidents where Monique was subjected to unwanted sexual advances by McKee. He reportedly threatened to find her and buy the house next door, insisting she would always be his wife.

The documents indicate that McKee was recorded driving near the Tepe home on December 6, before the murder, indicating he was scouting the house while the couple attended a football game.

After leaving the game early, Monique appeared distressed and had confided in friends about her concerns regarding McKee.

Weeks later, McKee allegedly traveled back to their home in Rockford, Illinois, where he killed the couple, leaving their two young children unharmed.

Surveillance footage captured his SUV near their property multiple times before and after the targeted attack, which occurred around 3:50 a.m.

Police were able to trace a silver SUV linked to McKee’s former address to the hospital where he was employed and arrested him nearly two weeks later at a nearby Chick-fil-A.

McKee has pleaded not guilty to four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated robbery.

Currently held in the Franklin County Jail, he faces the possibility of life in prison without parole if convicted.
