Knicks Keep Winning Despite Injury Concerns

WASHINGTON — It might be time to break up the Knicks!

Just days before the trade deadline, the Knicks pulled off a solid victory over the struggling Wizards, winning 132-101. This marked their seventh consecutive win, showcasing the effectiveness of their current roster.

New York built a significant lead early on—16 points by the end of the first quarter, 27 at halftime, and 31 heading into the final period. The game was largely decided before it even really started.

Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a strong performance, scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in only 26 minutes, further proving his dominance against Washington center Alex Sarr.

Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson contributed 21 points, OG Anunoby added 19, and Mikal Bridges scored 23, contributing to a well-rounded offensive effort.

However, it’s worth noting that the team faced more issues with ankle injuries. Reports revealed that Miles McBride’s ongoing ankle trouble required additional testing, while teammates Josh Hart and Mohamed Diawara twisted their ankles during the game and had to leave early.

Diawara’s injury appeared to be particularly severe, but he was supported to the locker room by his fellow players. Hart hurt his left ankle, a different issue than the right ankle he had badly sprained back on Christmas Day, and also did not return to the game after his injury in the third quarter.

Despite these setbacks, the Knicks (32-18) had a comfortable win, backed by a defense that has been performing exceptionally well throughout their winning streak.

Looking ahead, the schedule is going to get much tougher, with challenging games against the Nuggets, Pistons, and Celtics lined up.

On the flip side, the Wizards (13-36) are in a position where losing isn’t a big deal for them. They traded away their first-round pick to the Knicks, but the top eight is protected. As a result, Washington is aiming to finish in the bottom four of the league to avoid losing that pick.

They also made a trade for Trae Young but have placed him on hold indefinitely, clearly indicating their intention to tank.

Starting for the Wizards were Sarr (20), Keyonte George (22), Bilal Koulibaly (21), and Babs Carrington (20).

The crowd at the Wizards’ home arena was noticeably filled with Knicks supporters, many of whom cheered “MVP” for Brunson and booed when Trae Young appeared on the jumbotron.

In summary, it was a good night for the Knicks—aside from the growing list of ankle troubles.
