Footage has emerged of a disturbing incident involving a 12-year-old girl who fell from a ski lift in California. This occurred at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort on Saturday, and it raised serious concerns about safety measures on the chairlift.
In the widely shared video, the girl appears to struggle to hold on, her legs swinging helplessly as she remained attached to her snowboard. Staff at the resort quickly rushed to her aid, setting up pads and safety nets beneath her to soften her impending fall.
Eventually, she fell to the ground, sadly landing mainly outside the safety zone they had prepared. The employees, initially in shock, quickly became alarmed and dashed to her side.
A woman who stated she was the girl’s mother expressed gratitude on social media, noting that her daughter “miraculously escaped without any broken bones or major injuries.” She further thanked the team that helped her daughter, describing the situation as incredibly traumatic but appreciating the support they received.
When questioned about why the safety bar on the chair failed to engage, the mother insisted there was no blame to be assigned. She explained that the chairlift slipped just as her daughter boarded, not allowing her time to secure it. “As for the bar, there was no chance,” she mentioned, adding that it was just a series of events that led to this unfortunate accident.
In the video, the girl is seen sitting with two others before the incident. Her mother noted that the group had held onto her for as long as they could to give rescuers a chance to respond.
Despite what happened, the family seems undeterred by the incident and plans to return to skiing when they feel ready. The mother’s resolve to protect her children remains strong, emphasizing the importance of safety in such activities.
