Dog Chapman's stepson Gregory Zecca accused in deadly shooting of 13-year-old son

Gregory Zecca, son-in-law of Dog the Bounty Hunter, has been charged after allegedly shooting and killing his 13-year-old son, Anthony. He was arrested on February 3 and is now facing two counts of aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

According to a report, Anthony was found dead in their Naples apartment on July 19, 2025. Initially, a 911 call labeled it an “accidental shooting,” with someone shouting, “Dad shot son.”

Upon arriving, deputies saw Gregory attempting to revive his son. A 9mm handgun was discovered on the kitchen island, and it was made safe at the scene. The sheriff’s deputy noted that Gregory had an empty holster on him, and a witness corroborated that the gun belonged to Gregory.

Gregory was arrested at the same apartment where the tragic incident occurred. Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk remarked on the situation, calling it a “heartbreaking and preventable tragedy.” He praised detectives for their thorough investigation, which included witness statements and forensic analysis.

Gregory is the son of Francie Fran, who married Dog the Bounty Hunter in 2021. Francie had two sons with her late husband, Bob Frain.

After the incident, a representative for Dog and his wife expressed their grief, stating, “As a family, we are saddened by this mysterious and tragic accident. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we mourn the loss of our beloved grandson Anthony.”
