Former FBI Agent Reveals Reliable Methods to Verify the Authenticity of Nancy Guthrie's Voice

Ex-FBI Agent Discusses Audio Evidence in Nancy Guthrie Case

A former FBI agent outlined on Thursday how authorities assess the authenticity of an audio recording said to feature Nancy Guthrie. As the effort to locate her enters its fifth day, her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, publicly shared her mother’s identity. This announcement came after officials revealed a ransom letter with two deadlines, while they struggled to reach or confirm details with the family.

During a segment on “Arena with Casey Hunt,” ex-FBI agent Steve Moore raised some concerns over how police analyze audio evidence, especially when a person’s voice can easily be found online. “There won’t be a voice that convinces everyone, and we aren’t going back to the past. We need to combat AI, but there are unique details only Nancy would know that her captors likely don’t,” he explained.

Moore emphasized that investigators would concentrate on verifying context, focusing on specifics that could only be known by the person, making it hard for impersonators to mimic. He mentioned, “You can put together a list of questions for the kidnapper. If they refuse to answer, you might not need to call her. For instance, if you ask about a restaurant visit on her birthday and the details surrounding it, the kidnapper will likely struggle to provide accurate answers.”

Authorities are looking for Nancy Guthrie, 84, who was reported missing under unclear circumstances from her home in Arizona on Sunday. She was last spotted Saturday night near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which noted they’re uncertain about her attire during her disappearance.

Reports indicate that Nancy was possibly kidnapped from her home, with blood stains discovered at the scene. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos informed TMZ that it appears she was taken from her bed. Law enforcement sources shared with the Los Angeles Times that these bloodstains were found alongside signs of forced entry, although it remains unconfirmed whose blood was present.

Additionally, TMZ indicated a ransom note has surfaced, demanding millions in cryptocurrency for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return. During a livestream, Harvey Levin and Charles Latibaudiere noted that the memo included a deadline, explicit threats, and instructed payments to a verified Bitcoin address.
