Matthew Stafford Wins 2025 NFL MVP

On Thursday night, Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, was awarded the 2025 NFL Most Valuable Player at the NFL Honors event held in California.

Stafford had an impressive season, leading the league with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns while keeping his interceptions down to just eight, a career-low. His performance was pivotal in guiding the Rams to the NFC Championship Game, although they ultimately faced a 31-27 defeat against the Seattle Seahawks.

The MVP competition tilted between Stafford and Drake Maye, the quarterback for the New England Patriots.

Maye helped the Patriots achieve a remarkable 14-3 record and boasted the best completion percentage and QBR in the league. However, Stafford’s production set him apart—he threw 12 more touchdowns than Maye and was responsible for a significant portion of the Rams’ offense.

Stafford’s 2025 season is regarded as his best in professional football. While he once had a standout year in 2011 with the Detroit Lions, throwing for 5,038 yards but with 16 interceptions, 2025 showcased his growth. Even during the Super Bowl-winning season in 2021, Stafford threw for 4,886 yards and 41 touchdowns, yet led the league with 17 interceptions. This year, though, he halved his turnovers and exceeded his touchdown count from both previous seasons, achieving an impressive passer rating of 109.2.
