Russian intelligence official shot in Moscow

A Russian military intelligence officer was killed in Moscow on Friday, as reported by the Associated Press. Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev was shot several times by assailants inside an apartment building, and he is currently in the hospital, according to a statement from Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that President Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the situation. He stressed the importance of enhancing protection for military leaders amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, President Zelenskiy has disclosed that approximately 55,000 Ukrainians have died, while ongoing peace discussions persist.

Recent developments include a prisoner exchange agreement between the warring parties. U.S. Presidential Peace Envoy Steve Witkov, along with Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Minister Rustem Umerov, shared this information in a post on X.

Additionally, delegations from the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia recently met in Abu Dhabi, aiming to find pathways to resolve the war. Their discussions focused on creating conditions conducive to lasting peace.

According to the report, both Russia and Ukraine have agreed to release 157 prisoners of war each, marking the first such exchange in five months.
