Twisted Sister Cancels All Upcoming Performances
Twisted Sister has announced the cancellation of all their planned performances. This decision comes as a result of lead singer Dee Snyder’s unexpected resignation due to ongoing health issues.
In an official statement, the band shared, “Due to the sudden and unexpected resignation of Twisted Sister’s lead singer Dee Snyder because of a series of health challenges, we are forced to cancel all scheduled performances through the summer, beginning with the show in São Paulo, Brazil, on April 25th.”
The band also indicated that they would be discussing their future soon, urging fans to “stay tuned for updates.”
The news has struck a chord with fans, many of whom expressed their sympathy and support for Snyder in the comments. One fan remarked, “Heartbreaking news. Endless respect for a man who gave his all to rock and roll. We stand with you, Dee.” Another wrote, “The legend of TS will live forever. There’s no need for comebacks or anniversary shows. The albums, photos, videos, and memories will last for everyone to see and hear.”
A statement from the band’s website highlighted Snyder’s struggles with health issues, revealing that he has been dealing with degenerative arthritis and has undergone several surgeries. Snyder reflected on the toll that his career has taken on him, saying, “A lifetime of legendary offensive performance has taken a toll on Dee Snyder’s body and mind.” He acknowledged, “The intensity with which I have devoted myself to my life’s work has also taken a toll on my heart.” Snyder conveyed a poignant sentiment: “I don’t know any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down doesn’t sit well with me. I’d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.”
The statement closed with a reminder of the importance of recognizing one’s limits: “In the immortal words of Dirty Harry, ‘A man must know his limits.’ Sadly, Dee Snyder knows him by now.”
Twisted Sister was founded in the early 1970s, and Snyder joined in 1976, showcasing his talents through both vocals and songwriting. The band’s major label debut came in 1983, but it was the 1984 album *Stay Hungry* that catapulted them into stardom.
Despite disbanding in 1988, the band reunited in 1997 and continued to perform without releasing new music. Reflecting on the tough times after the split, Snyder told reporters, “I lost everything.” He recounted the struggles that followed, saying he had to bike to a desk job, manage a family, and deal with a challenging situation that led to significant personal hardship.
Snyder emphasized the importance of sharing these experiences, stating, “People need to hear these stories and know they are not alone.”
