Hooters restaurant in Boca Raton, Florida, shutting down despite viral TikTok popularity

Closure of Popular Hooters Location in Boca Raton

A well-known Hooters restaurant in Boca Raton, Florida, is slated to close soon, much to the surprise of its loyal customers and staff. General manager Chris Torelli confirmed that the closure is due to the landlord’s choice not to renew the lease, with the final day set for the end of February.

In a challenging restaurant industry, the shutdowns might indicate a downturn. Yet, this Hooters location thrived by cultivating a unique social media presence, particularly through TikTok dances and entertaining parody videos. “We see ourselves as a vibrant and successful establishment, unlike those that are closing,” Torelli said.

Over the years, the Boca Raton Hooters has gained significant attention by creatively leveraging social media. What began as a marketing strategy has blossomed into one of the most popular Hooters accounts nationwide, according to Torelli.

The restaurant’s viral videos, which included choreographed dances and lighthearted jabs at local sports teams, resonated far beyond the immediate area. Torelli noted that the early successes on social media greatly boosted their engagement with customers.

It’s not just about numbers, though. The goal has always been to foster enjoyment. “Sure, we’re a business, but our Instagram account is all about having a good time,” Torelli shared.

Much of this good atmosphere came from the featured waitresses, Amanda Hall and Sarah Glynn, who have become well-known figures online, often showcasing their fun and self-deprecating humor.

Interestingly, this social media impact has redefined the Hooters girls as local celebrities. Former employee Abigail Fuqua still experiences the effects of this popularity. “Once you’re in that environment, it’s just a blast,” she recounted regarding her participation in the videos.

Torelli mentioned that this strong social media presence has proven to be an excellent recruitment tool. “We’ve discovered that these videos attract individuals who want to work here, which has been a major win for us,” he said.

As the restaurant readies itself to close after 16 total years, Hall and Glynn expressed that it was more than just a job. “We’re like sisters now,” Glynn remarked, with Hall adding, “It feels like family here.”

Despite the impending closure, there’s a hint of hope for the future as Torelli revealed they always planned to find a new location nearby. “This isn’t the end,” he asserted.

For the employees, while the future may be uncertain, there’s plenty of gratitude. “Life can lead us in various directions, but I’ve had an amazing time here,” Hall reflected.

Glynn, with a touch of humor, remarked that closing the Boca Raton location might signify a new chapter for her. “I might need to retire these orange shorts for a while, because I’m not sure how I’ll adapt at another Hooters,” she joked.

Torelli remains confident that the restaurant’s vibrant social media presence won’t fade away, even after the doors close for good. “We’ve given so much to our guests and community, and we intend to keep that going,” he concluded.
