Kristin Cavallari shares her strict six-month dating guideline based on past relationship errors.

Kristin Cavallari recently reflected on her past relationships and the guiding principle she’s adopted for herself while responding to fan questions on her podcast.let’s be honest She shared insights about the distinction between infatuation and true love, noting,

“I think they say infatuation lasts about three to six months. So, for the past few years, I’ve decided that I’m not going to say I love you, make any long-term plans, or introduce anyone to my kids during those first six months. I’m someone who gets super excited when I like someone, and it’s rare for me to feel attracted to anyone.”

She admitted to being “completely consumed” by her infatuation, acknowledging that she has told people she loved them when, in hindsight, she probably shouldn’t have, as she often gets confused about her feelings.

On the topic of love, Cavallari revealed she has truly felt that way for only a few people: “My ex-husband, my boyfriend from when I was around 19 or 20, Nick, and my high school boyfriend Stephen,” along with a possible infatuation from eighth grade. She joked, “I don’t know if you can really fall in love in eighth grade, but if it’s possible, I definitely would have.”

“I love all my friends, of course. But flirting with them? No, thanks. I think that’s the key difference for me between just loving someone and being in love,” she added.

In the end, she noted that “only time will tell” if the initial infatuation transforms into something deeper. “The people I ended up liking were also a bit unpredictable at first,” she said.

Cavallari was married to former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler from June 2013 to October 2020, and they share three kids: Camden (13), Jackson (11), and Saylor (10).

After her split from Cutler, she made it public that she was seeing TikTok creator Mark Estes, sharing photos on Instagram with the caption, “He makes me happy.”

Following their Instagram reveal, she faced criticism online regarding their 13-year age gap. In response, she humorously addressed it on TikTok, playfully asking, “So what are you going to do? Are you going to arrest me? Are you going to give me a ticket?”

“When people reacted strongly to me dating a 24-year-old, I thought, ‘And?'” she wrote in her caption.

The couple broke up in September 2024 after about seven months together. During an October 2024 podcast episode, she discussed the breakup, explaining that she felt it wasn’t right for the long term.

“I know he needs to live his life. He’s young. I realize I’ve had a lot more life experiences and I’m starting to feel a bit older. I think about what I went through at 24 and how formative those years are. It’s crucial for him to figure himself out,” she explained.
