At just 38, most fans of the NFL dream of becoming a head coach, but Mike McDonald has already made that leap—and with a net worth of $10 million to boot.
In May 2024, shortly after taking over for Pete Carroll, McDonald discreetly bought an 8,580-square-foot home in Redmond, Washington, for that eye-catching price. While it was initially listed at $10.95 million, it appears he snagged a deal. Interestingly, the previous owner had purchased it just for $7.95 million, meaning the property had gained over $2 million in value prior to McDonald moving in.
This impressive five-bedroom, three-bathroom residence sits on a farm in Union Novelty Hill and offers a resort-like lifestyle. It features seamless indoor and outdoor entertainment areas, along with a pool, a spa, and an indoor golf center. For fitness enthusiasts, it boasts a fully equipped gym. After a long day, he can unwind in the theater room or the hidden bar, while a car barn and organic garden add a unique touch to the property.
Purchasing this home is quite a statement for a coach whose estimated net worth is around $15 million and who will be the youngest head coach in the NFL when he steps into the role in January 2024.
McDonald’s journey to this point has been both rapid and strategic. As the former defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens from 2022 to 2023, he had made a name for himself as a sharp play-caller.
He’s already made history in Seattle, becoming the first coach of the franchise to win 10 games in his debut season. In his second year, he led the Seahawks to an impressive 14-3 record, capturing the NFC West title and earning the top seed in the conference, which paved the way to the Super Bowl.
While he’s embracing his new life in the Pacific Northwest, McDonald hasn’t forgotten Maryland. He still has ties there, renting out his home in Reisterstown for $15,000 per month. He had bought the 6,299-square-foot property for $2.3 million in 2022 while with the Ravens.
This four-bedroom, five-bathroom house, situated at the end of a scenic tree-lined road, is surrounded by hundreds of acres of protected woods. A two-year expansion and renovation brought in cherry wood flooring, mahogany doors, and coffered ceilings, along with custom woodwork. The kitchen is impressive, equipped with a Viking 6-burner stove, a two-tier dishwasher, a butler’s pantry with a wet bar, and dual refrigerator drawers.
The upper-level primary suite is a luxurious retreat, complete with a gas fireplace and heated spa floor. Downstairs, residents can enjoy a heated pool, a 10-person spa, and a second kitchen that leads to a beautiful bluestone patio.
