Turning Point USA’s Halftime Show Honors Charlie Kirk

On Sunday, Turning Point USA’s “All American Halftime Show” paid a heartfelt tribute to its founder, Charlie Kirk. The event featured Kid Rock as the closing act, who wrapped up his performance with a poignant moment.

Kirk, to whom the show was dedicated, was remembered during the event, with images of him, his wife Erica, and their children displayed on the large screen as Lee Brice, Gabby Barrett, and Brantley Gilbert performed. The tribute included the words “In Memory of Charlie Kirk” prominently featured onscreen.

Tragically, Kirk was assassinated last September while delivering a speech at Utah Valley University.

The showcase offered a patriotic theme, contrasting with the Super Bowl LX halftime performance that featured Bad Bunny. Opening the show, Gilbert wore a shirt saying “Land of God, Family,” emphasizing the message of the event.

The livestream on YouTube attracted an impressive 4.8 million viewers by its conclusion. Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth mentioned that he and his family were watching closely.

Before the show, Gilbert, reflecting on his career, shared his roots in Jackson County, Georgia. He expressed his initial goal of filling local theaters and carving out a living through songwriting. He didn’t shy away from discussing his past struggles, being a recovering addict and the choices that came with that. Despite his past, he finds pride in turning his life around.

Sharing his story through music is Gilbert’s way of reaching out to those enduring tough times. He proudly identifies as a Christian and expresses love for his country, despite its imperfections. At the core, he is also a devoted husband and father of three.
