Drake Maye’s Emotional Moment Before the Super Bowl
In his second season in the NFL, Drake Maye nearly clinched the league MVP title while leading the New England Patriots to their Super Bowl appearance.
The 23-year-old quarterback has garnered impressive recognition on the field, but arguably the most touching moment came just before kickoff on Sunday. His wife, Ann Michael May, was present on the sidelines at Levi’s Stadium during warm-ups.
Upon spotting Ann, May grabbed her for a hug and a kiss, a brief yet heartfelt interaction before he geared up for one of the biggest games of his career.
May and Ann tied the knot last June in North Carolina, and in a generous gesture, they donated their wedding gifts to help the homeless, which is quite commendable.
The couple’s relationship came to light in 2020 when May shared a New Year’s post about their time together, saying, “20 years in 10.”
In the lead-up to the Super Bowl, Maye reflected candidly on marriage, suggesting he’d recommend it to his teammates: “I think it’s one of the best things you’ll experience in life,” he stated. “Coming home to someone who truly cares about you is just incredible.”
He also shared insights about his own choice to marry young, expressing no regrets. “I know everyone’s on their own path, but for me, it’s been wonderful,” he added.
Both May and Ann attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where Maye left an impressive mark as the Tar Heels’ starting quarterback with 62 touchdowns and over 8,000 passing yards during his college career.
After being picked in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Ann took to social media to express her pride and excitement for Maye’s accomplishments. “I can’t wait for the next chapter!” she wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post, showing her unwavering support.
In his rookie season, Maye showcased remarkable skills, leading the league in completion percentage and finishing with notable stats—4,394 passing yards and 31 touchdowns—under coach Mike Vrabel.
