Bill Maher Shares That Harrison Butker Response Reveals What Drives Him to Dislike the Far-Left People

Bill Maher Critiques Far Left Over Harrison Butker Incident

On a recent episode of “Club Random,” comedian Bill Maher expressed his disdain for the far left, referencing the backlash that Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker faced in 2024. Butker had suggested to female graduates at Benedictine College that they prioritize marriage and motherhood rather than their careers. Maher discussed this situation, particularly how a speaker had called out Butker during the ESPY Awards.

“I defended him,” Maher recounted. “Initially, I thought, ‘I don’t relate to this guy at all. He’s very religious, focused on his family, and all that.’ Yet, he was merely acknowledging, ‘Shout out to women who want to have kids.’ That’s just his viewpoint.”

Continuing, he remarked on the crowd’s reaction, noting that the speaker indicated Butker should feel out of place, which raised Maher’s ire towards the far left. “That kind of attitude is what drives me crazy,” he said, expressing frustration over the hostile climate. Maher emphasized that everyone is entitled to their opinions and suggested that many Americans likely share Butker’s perspective.

In a speech at Benedictine, Butker had stated, “Some women might pursue successful careers, but I think many are ultimately most excited about marriage and raising children.”

Despite labeling himself a liberal, Maher has been critical of the Democratic Party, especially over the past year. He and actress Cheryl Hines, married to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., discussed on the show how Democrats have become increasingly antagonistic. Hines pointed out that Republicans had been friendly toward her initially, contrasting that with her experiences with Democrats.

Maher agreed, remarking on the noticeable differences in the political landscape. “It’s sad, actually, how much things have changed. People wonder why I’m frustrated with the Democrats, but it’s hard to ignore how different they have become.”
