Patriots’ Will Campbell Silent After Super Bowl Loss
Following the New England Patriots’ defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX, offensive lineman Will Campbell chose not to address the media. This decision came after what many deemed a poor showing in the game.
The Patriots’ quarterback, Drake Maye, who had received a pain-relieving injection in his throwing shoulder prior to the match, faced considerable pressure. He was sacked six times and turned the ball over three times as the Patriots fell 29-13. Campbell, responsible for protecting Maye, allowed two sacks and a staggering 14 pressures, the highest recorded by any NFL player this season.
Interestingly, Campbell left the locker room without answering any questions from reporters, which caught the attention of various news outlets. The 22-year-old, a respected LSU graduate, was drafted fourth overall by the Patriots in 2025, suggesting the team’s high expectations for him.
Despite Campbell’s struggles, head coach Mike Vrabel refrained from blaming him alone for the loss. “We can sit here and single out one guy, but that’s not how it works,” he remarked. “It begins with us as the coaching staff, and that won’t change.” Ultimately, the Patriots’ offense failed to find its footing, trailing 12-0 by halftime. They only managed to score a touchdown late in the game when Maye connected with Mack Hollins.
In reflecting on the overall game, Vrabel noted, “We just couldn’t establish any rhythm or gain advantageous field position. While defensively we held strong in parts, it wasn’t enough.” The outcomes of this game underscore the importance of cohesion and execution, something the Patriots will need to reassess moving forward.
