A recent incident involving an Amazon delivery drone ended quite dramatically. The drone crashed into an apartment building in Texas, resulting in debris and smoke. This crash occurred just two weeks after the program had been put on hold due to similar issues.

Cesarina Johnson witnessed the event on February 4, as she saw an Amazon MK30 drone operating near her Richardson apartment. She managed to capture the crash on video, as reported.

In the footage, Johnson could be heard exclaiming, “Oh my god! Oh my god! People fell down,” as she watched the drone collide with the building and tumble toward the entrance. “Oh, that’s not good…oh my god,” she added, noting the drone was still smoking and its propeller was spinning.

Johnson mentioned that she started photographing the drones simply because it was her first encounter with such technology, and she wanted to document it. Although she didn’t see the collision directly, the video showed debris scattering through the air after the impact.

“The propeller of that thing was still moving and I could smell it starting to burn,” Johnson shared with another news outlet.

Firefighters responded quickly to the scene, examining the smoking wreckage. They assisted Amazon staff in clearing the debris and loading it onto a vehicle.

Amazon hasn’t provided any comments regarding the incident yet.

This crash follows a recent suspension of commercial drone deliveries by Amazon in Texas and Arizona, which was prompted by two prior accidents at a testing facility during rainy conditions. A drone crash at their Pendleton, Oregon site had been linked to a software glitch caused by light rain.
