Brawl Erupts Between Hornets and Pistons
A fight broke out during a game between the Charlotte Hornets and the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, leading to the ejection of four players in a particularly tense third quarter.
Moussa Diabaté and Miles Bridges from the Hornets, along with Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart from the Pistons, found themselves sent off the court.
It all started when Duren backed into Diabaté in the paint, which prompted Diabaté to commit a foul. Things escalated when the two clashed face-to-face, leading to Diabaté pushing Duren’s head. You could sense the tension building from there.
Duren poked Diabaté in the face, and despite efforts from teammates to calm the situation, Diabaté, who is usually calm, seemed determined to retaliate. The veteran Tobias Harris tried to hold him back, but when Diabaté threw a punch at Duren, chaos erupted. Duren, in response, retaliated, and then Bridges jumped in, throwing a punch at Duren as well.
As more players joined in, Stewart leapt off the Pistons bench to confront Bridges, escalating the showdown further.
Eventually, the dust settled, but ejections didn’t stop there. Later in the fourth quarter, Hornets coach Charles Lee was also ejected after expressing frustration over a no-call when Grant Williams collided with Paul Reed from the Pistons.
Despite the drama, the Pistons claimed victory with a final score of 110-104, solidifying their position with a 39-13 record—the best in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets, on the other hand, sit at 10th place, with 25 wins and 29 losses.
The ejections typically lead to disciplinary actions from the NBA, so it will be interesting to see how the league responds to this intense altercation.
