Dan Bongino presents three theories regarding Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

Investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance Raises Concerns

Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino discussed three potential scenarios regarding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, emphasizing that the lack of leads has left investigators with troubling questions.

“The first possibility is that it’s clearly a kidnapping, perhaps for ransom,” he stated during Monday’s episode of “Hannity.” He went on to suggest, “The second possibility could be that this was simply a crime gone wrong—maybe a robbery where things escalated unexpectedly. Or, it might involve someone committing a separate crime altogether, and they’re trying to leverage this situation for their own gain.”

Bongino noted a third option might be that Guthrie’s disappearance stemmed from a medical emergency or some non-criminal event, which might have been misrepresented or misunderstood later.

Bongino’s theories highlight a significant lack of digital, forensic, and surveillance evidence. He pointed out that usually, if a suspect isn’t identified within the initial days of an incident, it could mean a highly skilled perpetrator is involved, or, perhaps, “the narrative we’ve been given might not be accurate.”

While he refrained from favoring one scenario over another, Bongino expressed concerns about insufficient DNA evidence, cell phone activity, and social media data, all raising doubts about the original story surrounding the case.

Referencing insights from veteran FBI agent Lance Rising, Bongino remarked that kidnappings for ransom typically entail quick communication and proof of survival, a pattern not evident in the Guthrie situation.

Guthrie, who is the mother of NBC’s “TODAY” co-host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her home in Arizona earlier this month. Multiple government agencies, including the FBI, are involved in the ongoing investigation.

As the search intensified, Savannah made a heartfelt public appeal for assistance, mentioning that the situation has become a “time of despair.” Authorities are examining a ransom note linked to her mother’s disappearance.

Additionally, Savannah urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as investigators approached a deadline mentioned in the note. This deadline passed on Monday night without any signs of survival or resolution.
