Las Vegas high school student taken into custody for the murder of a homeless woman

Authorities took a 17-year-old into custody on May 5, suspecting him of murdering a 61-year-old woman, whose body was discovered on April 21.

Local news sources report the suspect, Dennis Geiger, is a high school student known for past behavioral issues. He allegedly killed Marceline Biasini, a woman who often slept in the area where she was found.

Her body lay on the sidewalk outside a store, showing clear signs of trauma, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

Surveillance footage captured a suspicious encounter near midnight, showing Geiger approaching Biasini’s location and departing about a minute later. Although the video didn’t record the actual attack, it appears to have documented a loud scream followed by multiple bangs, as reported.

Detectives concluded that Biasini was assaulted during the night, and the Clark County Coroner’s Office later ruled her death a homicide due to blunt force trauma.

Geiger has a history of anger problems. In fact, he was expelled from Valley High School in January for allegedly trying to start a fire on school grounds and has since been attending classes online. Reports also indicate he exhibited aggressive behavior before, such as punching walls out of frustration.

In addition, police discovered shoe prints at the crime scene and identified Geiger by his clothing, which matched what was seen in nearby surveillance footage.

A blood test on Geiger’s shoes suggested a potential connection to the crime, but DNA results are still pending. His physical attributes also aligned with those of the suspect.

While Geiger admits to visiting a nearby store that night, he denies any involvement in Biasini’s death. The video from the store did not show him inside. It’s currently unclear if he has legal representation to address these accusations. Geiger is facing one felony count of open murder, a charge that does not specify the degree of the alleged crime.
