Artists Leave Talent Agency Following Epstein-Related Emails
Several artists, including Chapel Lawn and Chelsea Cutler, have decided to part ways with their talent agency after newly released emails from the Justice Department shed light on the relationship between agency founder Casey Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Jeffrey Epstein.
In documents made public, flirtatious emails exchanged in 2003 surfaced, where Wasserman commented to Maxwell, “I think about you all the time, so how would I like to see you in a tight leather outfit?” There was also a more casual exchange about massages, wherein Maxwell inquired if she could spend her visit, “floating around naked on the beach.” Wasserman’s ambiguous response was, “Or something like that.”
This situation prompted Grammy Award-winning singer Roan to announce her departure from Wasserman’s agency. In an Instagram post, she emphasized the importance of holding her team to high standards and stated, “Artists, agents, and employees should not be expected to defend or ignore conduct that is deeply inconsistent with our own moral values.” She added that real change in the industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.
Chelsea Cutler also confirmed her exit from the agency, citing her shock upon learning of Wasserman’s connections to Maxwell and Epstein. She expressed her frustration with the current climate and lamented the notion of normalizing unethical behavior. Cutler voiced her belief that artists should take a stand for their values and not remain complicit.
Moreover, the band Beach Bunny, along with others, has demanded that Wasserman resign from his agency, asserting that his continued presence contradicts their principles.
Wasserman, reflecting on his past interactions with Maxwell, expressed remorse, stating he never had a direct relationship with Epstein. He acknowledged the revelation of Maxwell’s serious crimes and expressed regret about any association with her.
As of now, Wasserman faces no legal charges related to this matter.
