BYU Football Player Arrested on Rape Charges
A wide receiver from BYU’s football team, Parker Kingston, has been arrested and charged with first-degree felony rape following a year-long investigation.
Authorities in Utah reported that Kingston was taken into custody on Tuesday after being accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in February of last year. The Washington County Attorney’s Office made this information public in a statement.
The alleged incident reportedly took place on February 23, 2025, in St. George, which is approximately 420 miles from BYU’s Provo campus. Local law enforcement authorities were looking into the matter before it was handed over to the county attorney’s office for further review.
“Detectives from the St. George Police Department collected digital and forensic evidence,” the attorney’s office stated. “They also interviewed relevant witnesses and individuals of interest, then forwarded the information to the Washington County Attorney’s Office.”
Kingston, now 21, is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to make his court appearance on Friday afternoon.
The Washington County Attorney’s Office emphasized the seriousness with which they treat allegations of sexual assault, expressing appreciation for the collaboration with medical professionals and law enforcement involved in the investigation.
Meanwhile, BYU acknowledged that it was informed of the allegations against Kingston. In a statement provided to media outlets, the university said, “We take any allegations seriously and intend to cooperate with law enforcement. However, due to federal privacy laws and our established practices regarding students, we cannot comment further.”
In terms of performance, Kingston had an impressive season last year, tallying up 67 receptions, 928 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. The Cougars finished their season with a record of 12-2.
