Florida Man Arrested Following Road Rage Incident
A man in Florida has been arrested and faces seven felony charges after a road rage situation over the weekend, according to local authorities.
Blackie Alvarez, a 33-year-old from Bonifay, is accused of aiming a handgun at another motorist during the altercation, as reported by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on February 8, around 1 p.m., when police received a call about a man brandishing a firearm at a driver on Route 331 in Defuniak Springs.
Officers located a white Ford Explorer and found Alvarez, who exited the vehicle and produced a black handgun from his waistband, placing it on the roof of the vehicle.
In addition, police discovered two metal knuckles in his pocket. Apparently, Alvarez didn’t stop there; he sped off, honking at the victims before swerving around them at high speeds. Then he came to a halt in front of their cars, drew the gun, and pointed it at them.
Throughout the investigation, Alvarez declined to provide any information to the police.
He now faces serious charges including two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and driving without a license. To add to his troubles, there was also an outstanding warrant for him in Bay County related to unpaid child support.
Authorities have indicated that Alvarez is currently being held on a $235,000 bail.
