Rick Jackson Challenges Trump in Georgia Gubernatorial Race

Rick Jackson, founder of a significant health care company, is entering the race against President Donald Trump’s support in the Georgia gubernatorial primary, which could prove difficult given the controversies surrounding him.

Jackson declared his candidacy on Tuesday, joining a competitive lineup that includes Lt. Gov. Bert Jones, a Trump supporter. His campaign is heavily focused on his business accomplishments, yet there are various aspects of his company’s operations that may not sit well with primary voters.

A key facet of Jackson Healthcare is a recruitment service known as LocumTenens.com. The service is actively looking for employees, notably those who will assist in areas related to family planning and pediatric endocrinology, including contentious treatments like gender reassignment surgeries for minors.

Interestingly, on the day of Jackson’s announcement, one job opening highlighted was for a bilingual family planning nurse in Minnesota. This individual has become a notable figure opposing Trump.

According to available information, those in the listed clinical roles are often advocates dedicated to enhancing reproductive and sexual health rights through quality care and education.

Moreover, Jackson’s company offers positions for pediatric specialists catering to a growing number of transgender youth, with particular attention to a community in North Dakota that prides itself on being both family-oriented and culturally enriched.

Jackson’s campaign hasn’t provided any feedback regarding inquiries for comments on the situation.

It’s also worth noting that major medical organizations are re-evaluating their previous stances on sensitive procedures following the Trump administration’s push to curb lucrative transgender surgeries for minors.

“Future medical ethics discussions may recognize sex-denial surgeries for minors like how we view lobotomies today,” remarked Mehmet Oz, head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, referencing a change in stance by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

The Republican primary in Georgia is scheduled for May 19, 2026.
