Casey Wasserman Sells Talent Agency Amid Epstein Backlash

Casey Wasserman, who leads the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, is in the process of selling his prominent talent agency due to mounting criticism over his connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. This backlash has prompted several celebrities to sever ties with him.

In a recent email to his staff, Wasserman expressed his regret: “I want to apologize for the discomfort my past mistakes have caused you. It’s unfair to you and to our clients and partners,” he mentioned. He acknowledged that he feels he is now a hindrance to the agency’s progress, which has led him to begin selling it.

He announced that Mike Watts, a long-time executive, will take over daily operations while Wasserman focuses on preparing for the upcoming Olympics in Los Angeles.

The LA28 Executive Committee did state that Wasserman will remain as chairman of the organizing committee for the Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

Wasserman’s troubles escalated after the release of over three million documents by the Justice Department related to Epstein, including controversial emails exchanged between him and Maxwell.

One email had Wasserman reaching out to Maxwell, seeking time with her while mentioning a trip to New York, which raised eyebrows. In her response, Maxwell suggested a rather provocative topic, leaving many unsettled. After the files surfaced, Wasserman conveyed his deep regret for those messages but insisted they were sent prior to the public awareness of Maxwell’s “heinous crimes.”

Wasserman stated he has had no personal or business relations with Epstein. Nevertheless, the scandal has impacted his agency significantly, leading to the departure of several high-profile clients, including Grammy winner Chapel Lawn and soccer star Abby Wambach, among others.

Participants in the industry have remarked that artists and agents shouldn’t have to defend actions that clash with their moral beliefs.

On the same day he made this announcement, Wasserman hosted the NBA All-Star reception in Los Angeles, attended by a noteworthy crowd, including NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Clippers owner Steve Ballmer.

This situation is still unfolding, so updates are expected as new information becomes available.
