Sarah Spain Reacts to J.D. Vance at Winter Olympics
Sports journalist Sarah Spain expressed her strong feelings about Vice President J.D. Vance during a recent episode of her podcast, describing his presence at the Winter Olympics as unsettling. She even referred to him as “the devil.”
In her podcast, Good Match with Sarah Spain, she recounted her experiences at the Olympics, including her enjoyment of the “Athletes’ Village tour” and the torch relay, which she highlighted as a memorable moment. Spain also discussed covering the women’s hockey match against the Czech Republic, recalling how Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived just twelve minutes into the first period.
Spain recalled, “This is where it wasn’t so good,” noting that a commotion erupted soon after they arrived. “We were barely settled in when suddenly there was a huge disruption a few rows below us,” she added.
Describing the media setup, she mentioned, “There were several rows of long tables for the media with computers and monitors for replays. There were only a couple of extra seats for other media members.” Then, she continued, “Twelve minutes into the game, the area became crowded with security personnel, and suddenly there was J.D. Vance holding a child.” Eventually, she indicated, Marco Rubio and likely his wife also appeared in their vicinity.
Spain did not hold back her disdain, stating, “Seeing J.D. Vance’s eyeliner face literally makes me sick.” She elaborated that her reaction was visceral, feeling as if she had “just seen the devil.”
She explained, “It felt like when you’re scared, and you get that tingling sensation, like something’s off.” It reminded her of moments when she sensed bad energy or danger, prompting thoughts like, “Maybe I should get out of here.” That was the kind of feeling she had in that instance.
Spain later took to the social media site Blue Sky to address her critics, saying that a peculiar comment she couldn’t delete on Instagram was a response to accusations of defending pedophiles and criticizing those targeted by ICE.
